The countdown is on…

In less than two weeks, The Light Between Us will finally be out in the world – and honestly, it still doesn’t feel quite real.

The official release date is 1st December 2025, and whether you’ve been following this book from the very first messy draft or you’re just hearing about it now, I wanted to share a bit more about what it means to me – and what it might mean to the two people at the heart of it all: Sean and Linda.

“Are we really doing this?”

If Sean and Linda were real (and some days they feel very real to me), I imagine they’d be pacing around right now.

Sean would be pretending he’s calm, fussing with his camera kit, checking lenses that don’t need checking. He’d say he’s “just nipping out for a walk” and somehow end up on a bridge at sunset, framing the city in that soft, golden light he secretly hopes people will see when they read his story.

Linda would be sitting at a kitchen table somewhere with a pencil in her hand, sketchbook open, telling herself she’s fine. She’d doodle thumbnails for a scene she can’t quite get out of her head, replaying conversations, wondering if she said too much, or not enough. She might deny it, but she’d be excited too – curious about who will understand her, who might see themselves in her quiet courage and her stubborn heart.

If they knew their story was about to land in your hands, I think they’d both be a little terrified… and very, very hopeful.

What The Light Between Us is really about

On the surface, The Light Between Us is about a photographer and a sketch artist whose paths cross between London and Cornwall. There are crooked trees that bend but don’t break, coastlines that refuse to be tamed, and city streets full of missed chances and second looks.

But underneath all of that, it’s about:

  • The moments we almost miss – and the ones that change everything

  • The people who feel like home, even when life pulls you in opposite directions

  • How love can be quiet, complicated, inconvenient… and still absolutely worth the risk

It’s about grief and hope, about starting again when you thought you were finished, and about that fragile space between two people where something new can grow – if they’re brave enough to let it.

The countdown is on

With just under two weeks to go, a few things are happening behind the scenes:

  • Final tweaks and checks (the glamorous side of publishing: obsessing over commas and page breaks)

  • Getting everything lined up for paperback, Kindle and hardback versions

  • Trying not to constantly refresh pages and stats I absolutely don’t need to be checking yet

But more than anything, I’m getting messages from early readers, friends, and people who’ve heard whispers about the book saying things like:

  • “I can’t wait to meet Sean and Linda.”

  • “I’m saving this to read over Christmas.”

  • “This sounds like the kind of story I need right now.”

And that means more than I can say.

If Sean could speak to you…

Sean would probably shrug and tell you he’s “not great with words” – he prefers to let his photos do the talking. But he might say something like:

“Thanks for giving us a chance. I know there are a million other stories you could spend time with. I hope, just for a while, this one feels like stepping into a favourite photograph – one you didn’t know you’d been missing.”

He’d hope you notice the little details: the light on a rainy pavement, the way a conversation sticks with you for days, the feeling of standing somewhere between where you’ve been and where you’re going.

And Linda…

Linda would probably blush at the idea of being “the heroine” of anything. She’d insist she’s just doing her best, and that she’s made more than her fair share of mistakes.

But she might say:

“If you’ve ever felt a bit lost, a bit stuck, or a bit ‘too late’ for your own life, I hope my story reminds you that it’s not over yet. That you’re allowed to want more. That you’re allowed to try again.”

She’d be quietly rooting for you from the pages, pencil smudges and all.

How you can help us in these final days

If you’re excited about The Light Between Us – or even just curious – here are a few simple ways you can help in this last stretch before release day:

  • Pre-order the book on Kindle. Pre-orders make a huge difference.

  • Add it to your TBR list or wishlist so you don’t forget it when December hits.

  • Tell a friend who loves contemporary, emotional, hopeful stories with a romantic heart.

  • Share a post on social media if you see me talking about it – every share genuinely helps the book find new readers.

Your support doesn’t vanish into the void. It lands right here, with me, and in some small way, with Sean and Linda too.

Almost there…

In just under two weeks, The Light Between Us won’t just be a file on my laptop or a stack of proofs on my desk. It will be a story in your hands – on your commute, on your bedside table, in your bag on the way to a coffee shop, tucked into your suitcase for a winter break.

And maybe, if the book does the job I hope it will, you’ll reach the final page feeling like you’ve walked alongside two imperfect, hopeful humans who are just trying to find their way through the dark towards something brighter.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Here’s to release day.
Here’s to Sean and Linda.
And here’s to the light between all of us. ✨
