It’s Here 💛

It’s Here: The Light Between Us Is Out Today 💛

Today’s the day.

After all the drafts, edits, late nights, rewrites, wobblies and “maybe I should just print it out and hide it in a drawer forever” moments… The Light Between Us is officially out in the world.

I’m equal parts excited, nervous and oddly calm, like I’m standing on a station platform watching a train I’ve spent years building finally pull out onto the main line.

What this book is, in a sentence (or three)

The Light Between Us is a decades-spanning, real-world love story about:

  • Sean, a boy who becomes a photographer, always chasing the way light falls on ordinary things

  • Linda, a girl who grows into a woman who’s spent years putting everyone else first

  • And the one connection neither of them ever quite managed to pack away

It starts in North London in the mid-80s: school fields, art rooms, cassette tapes, awkward bus rides home. No magic, no time travel—just teenagers trying to work out who they are and who they might be to each other.

Then life happens. Families, money, expectations, jobs, other relationships, the kind of choices that feel sensible at the time and echo for years. We pick up with them again as adults, carrying all that history, and ask:

What if you finally stopped pretending that first love didn’t matter?
What would you actually do about it now?

The answer isn’t simple, or neat, or wrapped in a bow—but it’s honest. And hopeful.

Who it’s for

I wrote this book for anyone who’s ever:

  • Wondered about the “what if” person from their past

  • Stood on a platform (literal or otherwise) watching something important leave

  • Tried to make peace with the younger version of themselves who made choices with limited information and a lot of feelings

  • Loved stories that are emotional but grounded—more kitchen-table than fairytale castle

If you like character-driven, slightly nostalgic, contemporary fiction with heart, I hope The Light Between Us will feel like good company.

How you can support the book today 📚

If you’d like to help this story find its readers, here are some brilliant, low-effort ways to do it:

  • Buy a copy from your favourite retailer (ebook or paperback – dealer’s choice)

  • Tell a friend who loves romantic, bittersweet, real-life stories

  • Post a photo or quick reaction on social media and tag me

  • Leave a short review once you’ve finished – even “I liked this” genuinely helps other readers discover it

Pre-orders have already meant a huge amount. Today, every single purchase, share and review is like giving the book a little push further down the track.

Thank you

If you’ve been following the countdown posts, cheering on Sean and Linda, or just quietly lurking and thinking “this sounds interesting”… thank you.

Thank you for:

  • Letting me ramble about fictional people as if they’re real

  • Believing in this story before you’d even read it

  • Making this launch feel like something we’re doing together, not just me shouting into the void

From today, The Light Between Us doesn’t just belong to me anymore. It belongs to anyone who picks it up, sees a bit of themselves in it, and carries it around in their head for a while afterwards.

If you do read it, I’d love to hear what stays with you—your favourite moment, a line you underlined, a scene that made you quietly emotional on public transport.

For now, though:

Publication day. We made it.
Sean and Linda are yours. 💛📖
